Recently, we were contacted by Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative to help take part in an Arbor Day project to plant a tree at various schools throughout MEC's service area. Today was the day at Clarksville Elementary School. We, along with several members from Mecklenburg Electric had the privilege of speaking with an attentive and inquisitive group of third graders. After a great presentation given by Mr. Ray DeJarnette, Arborist with MEC, on the importance of trees and how they affect our everyday lives we made our way outside in the misty rain to plant the tree. Seth did a great job explaining to the kids how to properly plant a tree and what it needs to thrive and grow. They didn't seem to mind at all having to stand in the rain. So now this tree belongs to the Class of 2023 and as they continue to grow and mature, so will this tree. Over the next few weeks we will be making our way to several other schools planting trees and educating our youth on the importance of trees and how to properly care for them. Thank you again to Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative for including us in this great project! Below are some photos from today's event.
